News and events
It's April and I'm leaving the pike alone so they can spawn in peace and produce lots of catchable
fish for the
future.
Last year produced some interesting and memorable sessions. The trip for FF&FT to Ireland was
most enjoyable. It was great to meet new people - several are now regular clients. Unfortunately,
the Weather Gods conspired to make it impossible to get on "The Secret Lough" but we caught
fish from a couple of local loughs that were accessible.
A return visit in November produced my biggest pike of the year (26lb 5oz) which was awarded
Fish of the Month for Ireland. Andy Bowman had a 22lb, post-spawn pike from the lough, along
with several "big doubles". Mike Duxbury landed a 20lb winter pike to go with his 24lb post-spawn
pike from Bowood.
Three client 20's from over the bridge and some splendid river fish took the sting out of the
difficult winter conditions. The local lakes were "stiff on top" for several weeks after Christmas.
When the water did warm up a little, the pre-spawn period was frustratingly brief.
The first half of May will see me doing "one to one" guiding sessions on The Secret Lough in
Ireland. In the middle of the month, I'm guiding on Llangorse and at Chew. On the week-end of
the 23rd, 24th & 25th, I'm demonstrating at the Stamford Gamefair at Burghley House.
I've got a few dates free in May - the 21st, 22nd, 26th & 27th - if anyone fancies some post-spawn
pike hunting, give me a shout. I'll post a report on the May fishing at the end of the month.
Early June will feature a trip to The Secret Lough for FF&FT. (There are still a couple of places
available)
I've also got some dates for the start of the season at Bowood.
At the end of the month, I'm off on an adventure to Manitoba.
I will be running some trips tO The Secret Lough in October and November. The first of these will
run from the 11th to the 18th of October. The cost is £690.00 per person. If you would like details
then give me a call. The trips will run until winter decides to tighten her grip.
